tiny baby steps

I graduated over a year ago and have watched so many other people share their beautiful creations with the world via their blog.  I now feel I am ready to do the same – hopefully! This is a tentative start to what I hope will become a good place for me to focus and share what I enjoy making with others…

I’ve been fortunate enough to have had the last two weeks off work to be able to focus on what I actually want to do.  I’ve been quite happily experimenting with some ideas I’ve had, researching what is out there and trying to see where I can fit in.  This is something I’m still trying to figure out, but I know that I have to give this a go.  The past year has made me realise that I do have a strong interest in Illustration/Art/Craft (whatever you want to call it) and I want to be a part of it.  I have a workspace, I have ideas, and all the paper and pens and other paraphernalia I’ll ever need – so what have I been doing for the past year? What am I waiting for?

This week I went to the Edinburgh Festival, and saw so many people doing what they love and are passionate about and how happy they were.  I saw some great shows, met some lovely friendly people, and visited some amazing exhibitions.  I also popped into the Red Door Gallery (http://www.edinburghart.com) and saw some really beautiful work, and realised – I want to do this.  I was itching to get home and draw and doodle and paint, and that is exactly what I will be doing.  I need to make this happen, because I know that I can do it.  I just need to take baby steps, and put some serious effort in, for this to work.  So wish me luck šŸ™‚
